Training

Part-time training in painting at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing 2002— China's most established fine arts institution, where the East Asian pigment and ink tradition is taught at depth. Self-taught computer scientist before that: Microsoft Certified Engineer in 1997 (one of the early waves), Master's in Computer Science from RMIT 2005.

Practice

Founded the studio business in 2015, Wall Liberation, Australia's only oversize-format art design, reproduction and framing operation working consistently at 80–600 cm. Full-time art painting practice since 2024.

The palette draws from two traditions held in one body of work: contemporary Australian land and light, and East Asian pigment and ink. The painting surface is built through multiple glazes, scrapings, and re-paintings — rice paper layered into select works for its translucency and absorbency.

The 49 Crossings

A framework I've been developing in parallel — a 7×7 map of human consciousness and expression, built across two decades of observation across psychology, philosophy, Daoism, and lived experience. The paintings are how this work becomes visible. Each piece marks a crossing.

I run two operations:

  • summerjiang.com — original oversize paintings and commissions.
  • wallliberation.com.au — Australia's only art oversized-format reproduction and framing studio, founded 2015. Over 3,000 oversize pieces produced for designers, architects, hospitals, universities, and hospitality.

The work is available at scale, with the production infrastructure to deliver it — to Australia framed, internationally rolled.

This isn't a brand. It's the structure of a life.
