Paradox: You can see everything and move nothing.

The Story

I painted this when I was living between Albury and Wodonga — a remote, cross-border place where the energy was pure but had not yet found its voice. The land held something real that nobody around me could see. The hills, the river, the light — all present, all waiting. I was waiting too. I did not know what for, but the weight of that quiet knowing pressed into every layer of paint I put down.

The Crossing

Crossing 2.1 Awakening via Holding — Holding the Awareness. The warm terrain holds everything visible — hills, river, eucalyptus, light — without moving any of it toward expression. This is the crossing where awareness opens for the first time and has nowhere to go, where seeing arrives complete but the body has not followed. The golden stillness across the canvas is not rest — it is the precise weight of perception before it knows what to do with itself.

This wide-format landscape uses heavy impasto with palette knife and brush to hold an entire terrain in a single field of warm, undisturbed awareness.
