Title: The Pause
Paradox: Nothing left to do, everything complete
The Story
I painted trees that had stopped. Not dying — finished. They had done their growing, their reaching, their holding. What was left was the bare truth of their shape. I recognised myself in them. There comes a moment when the work is done and you stand in the space that is left. Not empty. Complete.
The Crossing
Crossing 1.7 Dormancy via Living Dao — The Body Surrenders. The trees have dropped everything — leaves, cover, pretence — and stand as bare structure against the sky. The deep blue water below holds their reflection without comment. This is the pause at the end of the first cycle: everything has been done, and what remains is the architecture of what was.
Presence
Bare tree trunks outlined in red stand reflected in deep blue water, their stripped forms creating a vertical rhythm against warm orange sky and dark bush backdrop.

Acrylic on stretched canvas. Mineral pigments with fine red line-work over deep blue and warm orange passages, creating textural contrast between linear detail and broad colour fields.
