Title: Quiet Grace

Paradox: Grace arrives after everything has been spent

The Story

I found this tree at the base of a mountain at sunset. It had dropped everything — every leaf, every pretence of being productive. What was left was grace. Not the grace of effort but the grace of finishing. I painted it because I wanted to remember what it looks like when something is done and does not apologise for being bare.

The Crossing

Crossing 1.7 Dormancy via Living Dao — The Body Surrenders. The bare tree stands without apology against the warm sky — finished, not failed. Its branches reach not to grow but because reaching is what they are. At 1.7 the body surrenders not from defeat but from completion. What was done is done, and what remains is the quiet grace of structure without need.
