Paradox: A perfect picture, untested against a single wall
The Story
I stood in water and saw myself clearly for the first time. Not the version I had been told about, not the version I had performed. The real shape. It was smaller than I expected and more honest. I painted myself facing my own reflection because the model was finally complete — and I knew it would have to be lived, not just understood.
The Crossing
Crossing 2.5 Awakening via Revealing — Revealing the Construction. The figure and its reflection face each other across the water surface — one standing, one mirrored. The mental picture is complete and coherent. But the reflection is not the person, and the water between them holds the truth that knowing and living are not the same thing.
Presence
A translucent figure stands in water surrounded by vivid autumn foliage, its reflection stretching below in blue-green tones, the body almost merging with its own mirror image.
Specialised Pigments
Acrylic on stretched canvas. Mineral pigments applied in semi-transparent layers, building the figure and its reflection through gestural brushwork with orange, green, and blue passages.
