Title: Holding On
Paradox: Holding everything in, calling it strength
The Story
I painted a sky that was too big for the land beneath it. The white masses gathered in the foreground like everything I was carrying but could not put down. I called it strength. I called it independence. I called it being fine. The painting knows what I did not — that holding on is not the same as being strong.
The Crossing
Crossing 3.1 Resistance via Holding — Holding the Conflict. The landscape holds itself together beneath a vast sky that offers no shelter. The thick white masses in the foreground are not clouds — they are the accumulated weight of everything held in and held down. At 3.1, the surface looks intact. Underneath, the pressure builds with nowhere to go.
Presence
A blue-purple sky stretches over a dark landscape with thick white cloud-like formations in the foreground, creating an abstract composition that hovers between atmosphere and terrain.
Specialised Pigments
Acrylic on stretched canvas. Mineral pigments ranging from thin atmospheric washes in the sky to thick impasto in the white foreground masses, creating strong textural contrast.
Display Suggestions
Contemplative rooms where weight and resilience are understood.
