Title: Missed
Paradox: You test the water but never ask who is testing.
The Story
I painted this in a place I kept coming back to — a creek in the bush where the water was warm and the light came through the trees in patches. I was drawn to it because it was the kind of place where you stop performing. Nobody there. Just the water and whatever you brought with you. I painted what I saw — a woman entering water she did not fully know. The hat was the last thing she was holding from the world she came from.
The Crossing
Crossing 2.2 Awakening via Sensing — Sensing the Doubt. The figure enters the water carrying what she knew — and the water does not confirm it. This is the crossing where the first real questions begin, where awareness that has just opened meets a world that no longer matches the old certainty. The gesture of wading in is the gesture of testing: not yet swimming, not yet committed, but no longer standing on familiar ground.
Presence
A figurative waterscape of a woman wading into a bush creek, rendered in loose gestural brushwork where the boundary between figure and landscape dissolves into shared colour and light.
Specialised Pigments
Acrylic on canvas with mineral pigments. Loose gestural brushwork with transparent washes and impasto highlights, building depth through layered colour application.
Display Suggestions
Bedroom, reading nook, private bathroom — intimate presence through quiet immersion.
